Why the UAE offers traffic fine discounts

Every few years the authorities run short amnesty periods to clear unpaid fines and improve road safety. In 2026 the federal government has again approved a 50 percent reduction on selected traffic fines issued before 31 December 2025. The offer covers fines from the RTA, Abu Dhabi Police, Dubai Police, and Sharjah Police. Only fines that remain unpaid at the start of the window qualify.

When the 2026 amnesty runs

The discount period opens on 15 March 2026 and closes on 15 June 2026. During these three months you can settle qualifying fines at half price through the official apps or at authorised payment centres. After 15 June the original amounts are reinstated and no further reductions apply.

Which fines are eligible

The discount applies to most moving violations such as speeding, using a mobile phone, and not wearing a seatbelt. It does not cover criminal offences, unpaid parking charges issued by private operators, or any fine already sent to court. Check each fine on the RTA or police app to confirm eligibility before you pay.

How to pay and claim the 50 percent off

Download the RTA Dubai app, Abu Dhabi Police app, or use the federal MOI app.
Log in with your Emirates ID or passport number.
Select Traffic Fines and filter by the amnesty tag.
Choose the fines you want to settle and confirm the discounted amount shown.
Pay by card or through your bank app. Keep the receipt for your records.

If you prefer to pay in person, visit any RTA customer service centre or authorised police station with your Emirates ID. Staff will apply the discount on the spot.

After you pay

Once payment clears, the fine is removed from your record within 24 hours. If you still see the fine listed after two working days, contact the issuing authority through the same app or call centre. Clear records also help when you need to renew your driving licence or register a new vehicle.
