Who can pay Dubai RTA fines in installments in 2026

RTA offers an installment plan for traffic fines to drivers who meet clear eligibility rules. The plan is open to UAE residents and visitors who hold a valid driving licence and have unpaid fines registered under their Emirates ID or passport number. You must owe at least AED 1,000 in total fines before RTA will consider the request.

Black points or unpaid vehicle registration fees do not block the application, but any fine linked to a criminal case is excluded. The scheme covers camera, radar, parking and moving violations issued by Dubai Police and RTA.

Maximum number of installments allowed

In 2026 you can spread the total fine amount across a maximum of six equal monthly payments. The minimum monthly installment is AED 200. Interest or administrative fees are not charged, but the full amount must be cleared within the agreed period or the plan is cancelled and the original fine plus any new penalties become due immediately.

How to apply for RTA fine installments

Applications are submitted online only. Follow these steps:

• Log in to the RTA Dubai app or the RTA website with your Emirates ID or UAE Pass.
• Go to Services, then Traffic Fines, then select “Request Installment Plan”.
• Enter the fine reference numbers you want to include and confirm the total amount.
• Choose the number of installments (between 2 and 6) and submit supporting documents if requested, usually a salary certificate or bank statement.
• Receive instant approval or a request for additional information within 24 hours.

Once approved, the first installment is debited from your saved card or bank account on the same day. Subsequent payments are taken automatically on the same date each month.

What happens if you miss a payment

Missing one installment triggers a seven-day grace period. After that, RTA cancels the plan and the remaining balance plus a new AED 500 administrative fine is added to your record. You can re-apply only after clearing the full outstanding amount.

• Installments are available only for Dubai-issued fines; Abu Dhabi and other emirates have separate schemes.
• You can include multiple fines in one plan as long as the combined total meets the AED 1,000 minimum.
