Who qualifies as a single parent sponsor

Single mothers or fathers holding valid UAE residence visas can sponsor their minor children if they meet the minimum salary rule set by ICP. You must earn at least AED 4,000 monthly or provide a housing allowance of AED 1,000, plus proof that you are the sole legal guardian.

Required documents from ICP

ICP lists the exact papers needed: your passport and visa copy, the child's birth certificate showing your name, a recent court order confirming sole custody, and a no-objection letter from the other parent if applicable. All foreign documents must carry UAE attestation or an apostille stamp before submission.

Salary and housing proof

Submit your latest three salary slips or a stamped employment contract. If you run your own business, provide a valid trade license and six months of audited bank statements. Landlords or free-zone companies can issue a tenancy contract in your name to satisfy the housing component.

Step-by-step application at ICP

First, create or log into your ICP account and select "Family visa application." Upload the scanned documents, pay the AED 300 typing fee, then book a biometrics appointment at an ICP center. Once approved, the child receives an entry permit valid for 60 days. Within that window, complete the medical fitness test and Emirates ID application inside the UAE.

Medical test and Emirates ID

Children under 18 need only a basic blood test and chest X-ray at an approved DHA or MOH center. Fees total around AED 350. After results clear, pay AED 370 for the Emirates ID and AED 100 for the visa stamp. The full residence visa is then issued for two years and can be renewed alongside yours.
