Admissions Process for 2026

NYU Abu Dhabi uses the same Common Application as other NYU campuses. Students submit transcripts, two teacher recommendations, a personal statement, and standardized test scores if available. The university also requires a video interview and an additional short essay focused on global citizenship. Deadlines fall on 1 November for Early Decision and 5 January for Regular Decision. Offers arrive by mid-December or late March, and accepted students must reply within four weeks.

Tuition and Living Costs in 2026

Full tuition stands at AED 228,000 per year. On-campus housing in the Saadiyat campus residences costs AED 42,000 annually, and the mandatory meal plan adds AED 18,000. Health insurance through the university provider is AED 6,500. Most students budget an extra AED 12,000 for books, local transport, and personal expenses, bringing the total yearly cost to roughly AED 306,500 before any aid.

Scholarships and Financial Aid

NYU Abu Dhabi meets full demonstrated need for every admitted student, regardless of nationality. The university offers three main packages: the full-ride Sheikh Mohamed Scholarship covering tuition, housing, and meals; the NYUAD Grant that covers 50 to 100 percent of tuition; and separate merit awards ranging from AED 50,000 to AED 120,000. Families submit the CSS Profile and tax documents by 15 February. Decisions are released with admission offers and remain fixed for the full four years if family circumstances stay the same.

Academic Experience and Outcomes

Classes average 15 students with a 9:1 faculty-to-student ratio. Undergraduates complete a core liberal-arts curriculum plus a major chosen from 26 fields. All students spend at least one semester at another NYU site in New York, Shanghai, or one of 11 global locations. Career outcomes show 94 percent of the Class of 2025 employed or in graduate school within six months, with median starting salaries reported at AED 285,000 in the UAE and AED 310,000 abroad.

Is NYU Abu Dhabi Worth It for Expats?

For families already based in the UAE, the main advantage is avoiding international student tuition at NYU New York while still earning an NYU degree. The generous aid policy often brings net cost below many European or US public universities. Drawbacks include limited major options compared with the New York campus and a smaller alumni network inside the UAE. Most expat parents weigh the full-ride packages heavily; when aid covers 70 percent or more, the return on investment is strong for careers in finance, tech, consulting, and research.
