What an NOC Letter Covers

An NOC from your UAE employer confirms you have fulfilled your contract and the company releases you to work elsewhere. It typically states your job title, contract end date, and any outstanding dues. ICP may request this document during a visa transfer or cancellation process.

When You Need an NOC in 2026

Most employees need an NOC when switching employers inside the UAE before their current contract ends. You also need one if you want to sponsor family members for a residence visa while still employed. Banks and finance companies often ask for an NOC when you apply for a personal loan or credit card above AED 50,000.

How to Request an NOC from Your Employer

Send a short written request to your HR department. Include your full name, Emirates ID number, and the purpose of the NOC. Most companies reply within five working days. If your contract requires a notice period, the NOC is usually issued only after that period is complete or waived in writing.

• Copy of your Emirates ID
• Copy of your current residence visa
• Passport copy
• Written NOC request on company letterhead
• Proof of any dues paid, if requested

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Do not assume your employer must issue an NOC. Some contracts contain non-compete clauses that prevent release for up to six months. Always check your signed offer letter before applying elsewhere. If the company refuses, MOHRE can mediate, but the process may take two to four weeks.
