Getting to La Mer Beach

La Mer Beach sits along Jumeirah 1, about 25 minutes from Downtown Dubai by car. The simplest route is to follow signs for Jumeirah Beach Road then turn onto La Mer Street. Public buses 8 and 9 stop within a five-minute walk of the main entrance. If you prefer the metro, take the Red Line to Jumeirah Lakes Towers and switch to the feeder bus that reaches the beach in ten minutes.

Entry and Parking Rules

Access to the sand and sea remains free for everyone. Parking, however, is managed by RTA and costs AED 25 for the first two hours on weekdays and AED 35 on weekends. After the initial period, each extra hour is AED 15. Payment is handled through the RTA app or machines at the lots. During peak summer months, arrive before 10 am to secure a shaded spot.

Facilities and Safety

Changing rooms, showers, and family toilets are available at both ends of the beach. Lifeguards patrol daily from 8 am to 6 pm. A first-aid station sits near the central promenade. Drinking fountains and shaded seating areas are spaced every 200 metres. Bring reef-safe sunscreen because the DHA health guidelines advise it for all beachgoers.

Food, Drinks and Shopping

Along the promenade you will find more than twenty cafes and casual restaurants. Expect AED 45-65 for a main dish and AED 25 for a fresh juice. Several kiosks sell beach essentials such as towels, hats, and snorkel sets. If you prefer a sit-down meal with air-conditioning, walk five minutes inland to the La Mer North district where larger dining options open from 11 am.

Things to Do at La Mer

Swimming is calm inside the marked buoys. Early morning paddle-board and kayak rentals start at AED 60 per hour. A 1.8 km waterfront walk lets you explore public art installations and photo spots. On weekends, pop-up markets appear on the grass area selling local crafts and snacks. For families, the shaded playground near the south entrance keeps children occupied while parents relax nearby.

Best Time to Visit

From October to April the weather stays pleasant and water temperature hovers around 24 degrees. Weekday mornings are quieter. Avoid Friday afternoons when local families arrive after 3 pm. Always check the DHA app for any temporary swimming advisories after heavy rain.
