MOHRE issues a one-year ban when an employee leaves a limited contract early without notice or when the employer reports a contract breach. The ban prevents new work permits inside the UAE and is recorded against the individual’s ICP file.

Who actually receives the ban

Only the employee named on the contract receives the restriction. Sponsors, dependents, or visa holders under a different employer stay unaffected unless they are also listed as breaching parties. Domestic workers fall under separate MOHRE rules and can receive bans for similar early-exit reasons.

How the ban appears and blocks new jobs

Once active, any MOHRE work-permit application is auto-rejected. Employers see the ban status when they try to sponsor you. The restriction shows in your ICP profile and remains visible to new sponsors until it is lifted or expires.

Steps to request removal before the year ends

Submit a ban-lift request through the MOHRE app or portal with these documents: copy of passport, Emirates ID, old labour contract, and proof the employer released you or that both parties reached settlement. Pay the 300 AED processing fee. MOHRE reviews within 10 working days and notifies you by SMS and email. If the employer refuses to cooperate, attach any court or arbitration ruling that shows the contract ended lawfully.

Common outcomes and timelines

Most straightforward cases receive approval within two weeks. When the employer disputes facts, MOHRE may call both sides for a hearing, adding another 15–20 days. After approval the ban is removed from your record immediately and you can apply for a new work permit the same day.
