Residence Visa Overstay Fine

Residence visa holders also pay AED 50 per day for the first 60 days of overstay. After 60 days the daily fine doubles to AED 100. ICP records the exact date of expiry, so the increase applies automatically once the 60-day mark is reached.

Grace Period Before Fines Double

The 60-day window is the only grace period that matters. Within those 60 days the daily rate stays at AED 50. Once day 61 begins, the AED 100 rate kicks in and continues until the person either leaves the country or regularises their status.

How the Fine Is Calculated and Paid

ICP calculates the total fine at the point of departure or when applying for a new visa. Payment is accepted at ICP service centres, through the ICP app, or at airport immigration counters. Cash, card, and online wallet options are available. Keep the payment receipt, as airlines may ask to see proof before boarding.

Consequences of Ignoring the Fine

Entry bans of 1 to 5 years can be imposed for long overstays.
Future visa applications may be delayed or refused until the fine is cleared.
Employers and sponsors can face penalties if a sponsored employee is found overstaying.

Steps to Avoid or Fix an Overstay

Check your visa expiry in the ICP app at least two weeks before the date. If you need more time, apply for a visa extension or new entry permit before expiry. If you have already overstayed, visit an ICP centre with your passport and pay the accumulated fine in full before attempting to leave.
