Dubai Nanny Visa Sponsorship 2026: Full Requirements

Who Can Sponsor a Live-in Nanny in Dubai 2026

Only residents holding a valid UAE residence visa can sponsor a nanny. The sponsor must be the employer of the nanny and live in the same household. Single men cannot sponsor female domestic staff unless they are the father or legal guardian of children under 18. MOHRE requires proof of family relationship or children in the home before approving the visa application.

Minimum Salary and Contract Requirements

MOHRE sets the 2026 minimum monthly salary for a live-in nanny at AED 2,500. This amount must be paid directly into a UAE bank account each month. The employment contract must be attested by MOHRE and list working hours (maximum 12 hours per day), one rest day per week, and annual leave of 30 days. Overtime is paid at 1.25 times the hourly rate if the nanny works on her rest day.

Accommodation Rules for Live-in Nannies

The nanny must have her own private room with a lockable door, adequate ventilation, and access to a bathroom. The room cannot be shared with children or other staff. The sponsor must provide a bed, wardrobe, and air conditioning. RERA-registered properties with domestic staff quarters meet these requirements automatically; otherwise, the landlord must issue a no-objection letter confirming the room meets MOHRE standards.

Medical Test and Emirates ID Process

After MOHRE issues the work permit, the nanny enters the UAE on an entry permit. Within 30 days she must complete the medical fitness test at an approved DHA center. The test covers HIV, hepatitis B and C, tuberculosis, and pregnancy. Once cleared, she proceeds to the ICP typing center for Emirates ID and visa stamping. The full medical and Emirates ID package costs AED 1,150 in 2026.

Insurance and End-of-Service Gratuity

Employers must provide private health insurance covering inpatient and outpatient care. The policy must be valid for the full contract period. At the end of service, the nanny receives 21 days of basic salary for each completed year of service as gratuity. This amount is calculated on the AED 2,500 minimum or higher contracted salary.

Renewal and Cancellation Rules

The nanny visa is valid for two years and can be renewed 30 days before expiry. Renewal requires a new medical test and updated MOHRE contract. If the sponsor cancels the visa early, they must pay the nanny for the remaining contract period or provide 30 days' notice and a flight ticket home. ICP charges AED 1,200 for early cancellation plus any unpaid wages.
