2026 Electricity Slab Rates

DEWA applies tiered pricing per kilowatt-hour. The first 2,000 kWh cost 23 fils. Usage between 2,001 and 4,000 kWh costs 28 fils. Above 4,000 kWh the rate rises to 32 fils. These rates apply to residential villas and apartments with smart meters.

The Housing Fee Explained

Every residential account pays a 5 percent housing fee on the total electricity and water charges. This fee appears as a separate line. It cannot be removed, but lowering your consumption directly reduces the fee amount.

Water costs 3.75 fils per imperial gallon up to 6,000 gallons. Above that threshold the rate jumps to 5.25 fils. Sewerage adds 1.5 fils per gallon on the same usage. Most households can cut 10 to 15 percent by fixing leaks and shortening showers.

DEWA replaced older meters with smart versions across most buildings. The new meters send daily readings, so your bill reflects actual use rather than estimates. You can view hourly data in the DEWA app and spot spikes from faulty AC units or left-on appliances.

• Replace filters every 45 days in peak summer.
• Close curtains on south-facing windows between 10 am and 4 pm.

Run the washing machine and dishwasher after 10 pm when demand is lower. Use ceiling fans on medium to allow a 2-degree increase in AC temperature without discomfort. Check Your Consumption History
