Dental Insurance in UAE: What is Covered What is Not

Most UAE health insurance plans cover basic dental treatment such as fillings, extractions, root canals and scaling. Coverage is limited to AED 1,000–3,000 per year per person. Standard dental coverage in 2026

Every DHA-approved health insurance policy sold to UAE residents must include a minimum dental benefit. The 2026 minimum is AED 1,000 annual limit for diagnostics and preventive care. Most employer-sponsored and individual plans sold by AXA, Daman, Oman Insurance and Orient provide 80–100 % reimbursement up to the limit.

Reimbursement process

Visit an in-network clinic listed in your insurer’s app. Swipe your Emirates ID or insurance card at reception. The clinic submits the claim directly. If you use an out-of-network clinic you must pay cash first then submit receipts through the insurer’s portal within 30 days. Reimbursement takes 7–14 working days.

What is not covered

Standard health insurance excludes several high-cost treatments. These exclusions appear in every policy booklet issued in 2026.

Orthodontics — braces, aligners, retainers and follow-up visits.

Implants — titanium posts, abutments and crowns placed on implants.
